Terms of Service
NederlandsThe agreement between you and Piwas for the use of Domainio. Domain registration involves rules we do not set, and this document tries to be clear about which is which.

Agreement to these terms
These terms form a contract between you and Piwas (KvK 95898115), the company that operates Domainio. By creating an account or registering a domain through us, you accept them.
If you are entering into these terms for a company or other organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it, and 'you' means that organisation.
The service we provide
Domainio lets you search for, register, renew, transfer and manage internet domain names, manage their DNS records, and use the related website and assistant features in your account.
We are a reseller. We are not a registry, and for most extensions we are not the accredited registrar of record either — registrations are placed through our registrar partner. This matters because registry rules bind you directly, and neither we nor our partner can waive them.
Your account
You must give accurate registration details and keep them current. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including actions taken with API keys you have generated.
Keep your password and any two-factor recovery codes secret. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation. We strongly recommend enabling two-factor authentication — a domain is a valuable asset and account takeover is the usual way one is lost.
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to hold an account.
Domain registration and registry rules
Every extension is operated by a registry with its own rules, and those rules apply to your domain in addition to these terms. For .nl this means the terms of SIDN; for generic extensions such as .com it means the registry's policies together with ICANN's.
A domain search result is not a reservation. Availability can change between the moment you search and the moment payment completes, and a registration is only final once the registry confirms it. If registration fails, we refund the amount in full.
Some extensions carry eligibility requirements — a local presence, a business registration, a qualifying trade mark. Meeting them is your responsibility, and a registry may cancel a registration that does not.
ICANN requirements and registrant obligations
For extensions under ICANN's authority, you agree to comply with ICANN's requirements as they apply to registrants. In particular:
- Your registrant contact details must be complete and accurate, and you must keep them up to date.
- You must respond to registrant verification requests. Not responding can lead to the domain being suspended.
- Deliberately supplying false contact data is a breach of the registration agreement and grounds for cancellation.
- Domain disputes may be decided under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP), or for .nl under SIDN's dispute procedure. Those decisions bind us, and we will implement them.
Fees, renewals and auto-renewal
Prices are shown in euros and include VAT where it applies. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay for that term.
Renewal prices are not fixed for the life of a domain. Registries change wholesale prices, sometimes substantially and sometimes at short notice, and renewal pricing follows. We will tell you the applicable renewal price before we charge you.
Where auto-renewal is enabled, we will attempt to renew the domain before it expires and charge the payment method or account balance on file. You can turn auto-renewal off at any time in your account. If you turn it off, keeping the domain is your responsibility, and an expired domain can be re-registered by someone else.
If a renewal payment fails we will retry and notify you. If it ultimately fails, the domain will expire. Recovering a domain after expiry may be possible during a registry redemption period, but registries charge substantial redemption fees which we pass on.
Refunds and cancellation
Domain registrations cannot be refunded once the registry has accepted them. The fee is paid to the registry at the moment of registration and is not recoverable by us. This is a genuine constraint, not a policy choice.
You have the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal as a consumer in the EU. That right does not survive the registration of a domain, because a domain is created specifically for you and cannot be returned — you are asked to acknowledge this at checkout, and by proceeding you ask us to begin performance immediately.
Where a registration fails, is never completed, or was charged in error, we refund in full. Subscription fees can be cancelled for future periods at any time; we do not refund the portion of a period already used.
Transfers in and out
You are free to transfer a domain away from us. We will not obstruct it, will not charge a fee for releasing it, and will supply the authorisation code on request from the account holder.
Registry rules impose transfer conditions we cannot override — commonly a 60-day lock after registration or after a change of registrant. A transfer in usually extends the registration by a year, and the transfer fee reflects that.
Acceptable use
You must not use the service to:
- Break the law, or infringe someone else's trade mark, copyright or other rights.
- Send spam, or operate phishing, malware distribution or other fraud.
- Register domains in bad faith in order to exploit somebody else's name or mark.
- Attack, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or anyone else's.
- Abuse our API — including circumventing rate limits or sharing API keys with third parties.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that is being used unlawfully, or where a registry or competent authority requires it. Where circumstances allow, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right.
You may close your account at any time. Closing it does not cancel domains already registered — tell us what should happen to them, or transfer them away, before you close.
Liability
We provide the service with reasonable skill and care. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we depend on registries and our registrar partner, whose outages we cannot prevent.
Our liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the affected service in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost business.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — in particular liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for intent or deliberate recklessness, or any of your mandatory rights as a consumer under Dutch law.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence, nor of your right to bring proceedings there. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
Before going to court, please write to domainio@piwas.nl. Most problems are faster to solve directly.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms as the service or the law changes. For material changes we will give you reasonable notice by email before they take effect. If you do not accept a change, you may close your account and transfer your domains away.
